A friend of mine called me gay today because I didn’t want to hook up with her. How was your day?
Oh, well that sounds like a good time. I’ll be doing that soon then. Thank you very much, anon.
Hmm. For a while there, Digital Ash in a Digital Urn was my favorite Bright Eyes album because I really dug the electronic elements sprinkled throughout it. It was also my first foray into the band, so it has a nice place in my heart. But then I started giving the band’s other albums more of my attention and I was reminded of how much I missed Conor’s more angsty moments - a reason why I loved Desaparecidos so much. So as it stands, I would have to say that Fevers and Mirrors is my favorite Bright Eyes record because, to me, it has that nice combination of teen angst and experimentation that I really like.
But as for Mystic Valley Band, I really don’t have an opinion that I can give you because I’ve never really given them a shot. Maybe if you, anon, or somebody else would be so kind to tell me as to where I should start, I would really appreciate that.
Oh good question, anon. Well, my favorite album of all time is The Always Open Mouth by Fear Before the March of Flames. That album really changed the way I looked at everything. And by everything, I mean everything.
But my favorite album that I’m listening to right this very second? I’m not too sure if I have one. Lately, rotation consists of Letting Off the Happiness and Fevers and Mirrors from Bright Eyes, Deathconsciousness from Have a Nice Life, and Hospice from The Antlers. I don’t think that really answered your question and I know that’s more than one album, but it kind of gives you an idea of the rad stuff I’m listening to right now.
